Credit Notes & Statements
Credit where it's due, and a statement that adds up.
Issue credit notes for returns, goodwill or overbilling, apply them to open invoices or leave them on account, and send customer statements with a running balance and aging, emailed with a link to the client portal.

Everything inside
Every facet, function & convenience.
Credit notes with lines
Numbered CN-0001 onward, against a client and optionally an invoice, with lines, tax, a reason and notes.
Apply to open invoices
Applied credit shows on the invoice as "Credits applied" and lowers the balance due.
Credit on account
Credit you do not apply stays on the client's account for the next invoice.
Refund as credit
When refunding a card payment, issue a credit note instead of sending money back.
Guard rails
Credit can't be applied past what is left on the note or on the invoice; void notes no longer count.
Customer statements
Every invoice, payment and credit note for a period, with opening, running and closing balance.
Aging on the statement
Open items bucketed current, 1-30, 31-60, 61-90 and 90+ days, with unapplied credit netted.
Email with a portal link
Send the statement as a branded PDF with a button that opens the client's portal statement.
Optional monthly send
Turn on monthly statements and each client gets theirs on the 1st.

Credit notes, not workarounds
A returned part, a goodwill discount, an hour billed twice: issue a credit note and apply it to an open invoice, or keep it on account. The invoice shows "Credits applied" and the balance is right, with no fake payment to explain later.

A statement with the whole story
Opening balance, every invoice, payment and credit in the period, a running balance and aging buckets. Preview it, download the PDF or email it with one click.

Clients see it in the portal
The statement email opens the client's own statement in the portal, with the same balance, aging and activity, and a PDF they can download.
Questions
The short answers.
What is the difference between a refund and a credit note?
A refund sends money back to the client's card. A credit note keeps the value on their account to use against open or future invoices. When you refund a card payment you can choose either.
Can one credit note cover several invoices?
Yes. Apply part of a note to one invoice and the rest to another, or leave the remainder on account.
Can clients see their statement?
Yes. The emailed statement links to their portal, which shows the statement and lets them download it as a PDF.
Can statements go out automatically?
Yes. Turn on monthly statements in your invoice preferences and each client is sent one on the 1st of the month.
