About Fee-Lion — Invoicing and Client Portal Software Built by Media Lion
We built the tool we needed to run our own shop
Fee-Lion started as an internal project. Our founder was running Media Lion — a small agency in Travelers Rest, South Carolina — and spending too many evenings fighting with the invoicing app instead of shipping client work.
FreshBooks kept nudging us toward add-ons we didn’t want. HoneyBook wanted every client to make an account before they could look at a proposal. Both charged per seat, which meant every contractor we brought on for a project added a line to the bill. And every one of them assumed we’d change our workflow to match theirs.
So one weekend we started rewriting the piece we hated most: the client-facing portal. That weekend turned into a year. Freelancers and studio owners we knew started asking if they could use it. Fee-Lion is what came out the other side.
What makes Fee-Lion different
No-login client portal. Your client clicks a link in their email and sees their invoice, contract, or file. No password, no account creation, no “please register to view.” The number of proposals that actually get read went up the day we shipped this.
Cmd-K everywhere. Every screen has a command palette. Create an invoice, jump to a client, log time, send a reminder — without moving your hands off the keyboard. If you live in your inbox and your terminal, Fee-Lion should feel familiar.
Flat pricing. One price. Unlimited clients, unlimited contractors, unlimited invoices. We don’t charge you more for growing. Per-seat pricing punishes the exact people we built this for — studios who hire freelancers project by project.
Who’s behind it
Fee-Lion is built and maintained by Media Lion, an independent web agency based in Travelers Rest, SC. We’ve been building websites and software for clients for 18 years — long enough to have opinions about what a good invoicing tool should feel like, and long enough to still be around when you need us next year.
The same small team that designs and ships Fee-Lion also answers your support email. There is no outsourced help desk. There is no tiered support queue.
