Estimates

Offer good, better, best options on an estimate

Client Portal Estimates Options

A client-portal estimate with Good, Better and Best package cards and optional add-ons, with the total updating live.

Instead of sending one take-it-or-leave-it price, you can give clients a choice. Fee-Lion lets you group estimate lines into packages like Good, Better and Best, and add optional extras the client can tick on or off before approving.

When you’d use this

Options work well when a job can be done at different levels, such as a standard, upgraded or premium fixture, or when there are add-ons a client might want, like haul-away or an extended warranty. The client picks what fits their budget, and you don’t have to send three separate estimates.

How to set up options

  1. Open the estimate and add your task and unit lines as usual.
  2. To make a line an add-on, mark it optional and choose whether it starts ticked or unticked.
  3. To build packages, pin lines to one of two or three packages, for example Good, Better and Best.
  4. Leave shared work out of any package. Lines that aren’t in a package are always included.
  5. Save and send the estimate.

What the client sees

In the client portal the estimate shows a section called Your options, asking the client to choose before they approve. Packages appear as cards with a price and a radio button, and optional add-ons appear as rows with checkboxes. The subtotal, tax, discounts and deposit recalculate live with each choice, so the client always sees the real number.

When the client approves, their selection is locked. Lines they didn’t choose stay on the estimate, marked as not chosen. In your review in the app you’ll see tags like “Optional · out” or struck-through lines next to “Better · chosen”, so it’s clear what was picked.

Tip: Put the work every option shares in plain lines, and only the differences in packages. It keeps each card easy to compare.

FAQ

What gets billed when I convert?

Only the chosen lines. Converting to an invoice or to project goals leaves the unchosen lines behind.

Does the printed estimate show the options?

Yes. The printable estimate tags optional and package lines and shows the package cards.

The client wants to change their pick after approving. What now?

Edit the estimate and resend it so they can choose again.
