Client Portal Invoices Statements

A customer statement in Fee-Lion with opening balance, aging buckets and a running-balance activity table.

A customer statement shows everything that happened on a client’s account over a period: what you invoiced, what they paid, any credits, and what’s still owed. It’s a single page you can send when a client asks “what do I owe you?” or when several invoices are open at once.

When you’d use this

Statements help with clients who get many invoices, with month-end check-ins, and with clearing up confusion about which invoices are paid. Their accounts team will appreciate it too.

How to create a statement

  1. Open the client company and go to the Statement tab (Customer Statement).
  2. Pick the From and To dates and click Update.
  3. Review the summary: opening balance, activity (invoiced, paid, credited) and the balance due, or “In credit” if the client is ahead.
  4. Check the aging buckets: Current, 1–30, 31–60, 61–90 and 90+ days, plus any unapplied credit.
  5. Scroll the activity table. It lists each invoice, payment and credit note with the date, charges, credits and a running balance, between opening and closing balance rows. Card refunds are shown for information.

How to send it

Use Preview to see it, PDF to download it, or Email statement to send it. The email includes a button that opens the statement in the client portal with a magic link, so there’s no login. In the portal, the client can also reach the same statement from the Statement link in the portal header and use Download PDF.

Send statements every month

To send them automatically, go to Settings → Preferences → Invoices → Statements and turn on Monthly Statements. They go out on the 1st, once per client per month.

Tip: Before a collections call, pull a statement for the last few months. The aging buckets show at a glance how long the oldest balance has been waiting.

FAQ

Does the client need an account to view it?

No. The emailed button opens the statement with a magic link.

Do credit notes show up?

Yes. Credit notes appear in the activity table, and unapplied credit appears beside the aging buckets.
