Once your estimate is ready, sending it is one step — and from there Fee-Lion tracks every move your client makes, so you’re never left guessing whether they saw it.
When you’d use this
This is the step that replaces “just checking you got my quote” emails. Send the estimate through the portal rather than as a PDF attachment and you get a timeline instead of silence: you know when it was opened, when it was read, and when a decision was made. That timeline tells you when to follow up and when to leave the client alone, and it gives you a timestamped record of the approval for later.
Send it
- Open the estimate and review the Summary tab.
- Submit it to your client. They receive a portal link to view it.
How status tracks itself
You don’t update anything by hand. As your client interacts with the estimate, the status advances on its own:
- Submitted — you’ve sent it.
- Opened — the client opened the portal link.
- Viewed — they’ve looked at the estimate.
- Approved or denied — they’ve made a decision.
Each step shows on the estimate itself and in the activity feed, so you can see the full history at a glance.
Tip: If an estimate sits at “viewed” without a decision, that’s your cue to follow up — they’ve seen it and are weighing it.
FAQ
Can I send the same estimate to two people?
Yes. Add both as contacts on the company and send the estimate; each gets their own link. Whoever has the approver role can approve it.
What if I need to change it after sending?
Revise and resend. The client’s portal shows the latest version, and the timeline records that a new version went out.
Can I attach files to the estimate?
Yes. Attachments added under Details travel with the estimate and are available to the client in the portal.
