Set up webhooks and API keys

API Integrations Webhooks

Settings, Integrations in Fee-Lion with a read-only and a read-and-write API key and two webhook endpoints with their events.

Settings → Integrations connects Fee-Lion to your other tools. Webhooks send a signed JSON event to your URL when something happens. API keys let your own scripts read and write your workspace through the same API the app uses. Only the owner or an admin can set them up.

When you’d use this

Use a webhook to update a spreadsheet when an invoice is paid, alert a channel when a request comes in, or start a job in another system when an estimate is approved. Use an API key for a reporting dashboard or a sync with your job board.

Add a webhook endpoint

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations and choose Add endpoint.
  2. Enter your endpoint URL, an optional description, and pick the events it should receive.
  3. Copy the signing secret (Reveal secret) into your receiving code.
  4. Pick an event under Send a test and choose Send test event.

There are 13 events: invoice created, sent, paid and overdue; payment received and failed; estimate sent, approved and declined; client created; request received; project completed; and time entry created.

Signatures, retries and the log

Each delivery has a Feelion-Signature header with a timestamp and an HMAC-SHA256 of the body made with your secret, so you can confirm it came from Fee-Lion. Failed deliveries are retried after 1 minute, 5 minutes, 30 minutes, 2 hours, 6 hours and 24 hours. Recent deliveries shows each attempt and lets you redeliver. After 15 failures in a row the endpoint is switched off and the owner is emailed.

Create an API key

  1. Under API keys, choose New key, name it and pick Read only or Read & write.
  2. Copy the key straight away. It’s shown once.
  3. Send it as Authorization: Bearer along with your workspace alias in the X-Lair-Alias header.

Keys work only for their own workspace, are limited to 60 requests a minute, and can’t reach billing, team or settings. Revoke stops a key at once.

FAQ

Is there a Zapier app?

A Zapier app is coming soon. Until then, webhooks and API keys cover the same events.

What happens to a key when someone leaves?

Removing a teammate revokes the API keys they created for the workspace.
