Sometimes you don’t need to send a whole portal invite — you just want your client to pay. Every Fee-Lion invoice carries its own shareable pay link, a magic URL you can copy and paste anywhere: an email reply, a text, a Slack message. Your client taps it, sees the invoice, and hits Pay — no account, no password, no friction.
Grab the pay link
The link lives right on the invoice, so you’re never more than a couple of clicks from it.
- Open Invoices from the left sidebar and click the invoice you want to share.
- Look for the Share or Copy pay link action near the top of the invoice.
- Click it once — the magic-link URL is now on your clipboard, ready to paste.
- Drop it into whatever channel your client actually reads, and you’re done.
In a hurry? Open the ⌘K command palette and type something like pay INV-204 to jump straight to that invoice, then copy the link from there.
Tip: The pay link always reflects the live invoice. If you edit a line item or record a partial payment, the balance your client sees updates automatically — you never have to resend a fresh link.
Where the link lands your client
When your client opens the link, they go straight to that invoice inside their portal view — branded with your logo if you’ve set one up under Settings → Preferences → Branding. They’ll see:
- The full invoice: line items, tax, deposit, and the amount due.
- A clear Pay button to enter their card.
- The option to download a PDF for their own records.
When they pay, the money settles into your own Stripe account (minus the small platform fee) — Fee-Lion never holds your cash. The invoice flips to paid on your side the moment the card clears, so you don’t have to chase a status.
Why no login is needed
The link is a magic link: the URL itself is the credential. That’s the whole point — your client shouldn’t have to create an account just to settle a bill. It’s secure because the link is unique to that invoice and that client, and it’s effortless because there’s nothing to remember. Fewer steps between “here’s your invoice” and “paid” means you get paid faster.
Sharing it the right way
A few small habits keep things smooth:
- Paste it as a real link. Most email and chat tools turn the URL into a clickable link automatically — a quick double-check never hurts.
- Send it to the right contact. If a client has more than one person on the account, share the link with whoever handles payments.
- One link per invoice. Each invoice has its own link, so grab a fresh one from each invoice rather than reusing an old URL.
If your client says the link won’t open, it’s usually a copy-paste hiccup or an old URL — re-copy the current one straight from the invoice and resend.
Tip: Want auto-pay instead of a one-time link? Set up a recurring invoice and let your client enroll their card once — then the pay link becomes a “set it and forget it” arrangement.
