When the next job looks a lot like the last one, duplicate it. Fee-Lion makes a new draft with its own reference number and opens it for you. Nothing is sent to the client.
When you’d use this
Use it for repeat work: the same maintenance visit for a new client, last month’s one-off invoice, or a project you run the same way every time. For a job you quote often, an estimate template may suit you better.
How to duplicate
- Open the invoice, estimate, recurring invoice, expense, recurring expense or project.
- Choose More → Duplicate.
- Confirm. The copy opens on the same tab, ready to edit.
What comes along, and what doesn’t
- Invoices become a fresh draft with the lines, discounts, notes and payment schedule, due on your usual payment terms. Payments, credit, receipts, the PO number and links to the estimate or recurring schedule stay with the original.
- Estimates copy their lines and schedule into a new draft.
- Recurring invoices and expenses start paused, with the next date set to today, so nothing goes out until you resume them.
- Expenses come back unpaid and due today, without the bill number or paid date.
- Projects are named “(copy)”, start as drafted, and bring their client, sections, budget and checklists, with every goal reset. Time, invoices, expenses and discussions stay with the original.
Tip: On a duplicated invoice with a payment schedule, the instalments keep their spacing and move forward to suit today’s date.
FAQ
Why can’t I duplicate a payment?
Payments, deposits and contacts record real events and real people, so they can’t be duplicated.
Can my accountant duplicate records?
No. The accountant role is read-only.
Does the client see anything?
No. A duplicate is a draft until you send it.
Does a duplicated project copy its time and costs?
No. The copy is a fresh plan for new work, so its Profit tab starts at zero. Logged time, invoices and expenses stay on the original job, where they were earned.
