Invite your accountant and export for QuickBooks or Xero

Your bookkeeper shouldn’t have to chase you for numbers. Fee-Lion lets you invite your accountant with read-only access for free, and download any period as a ZIP of files ready to import into QuickBooks Online, Xero or a spreadsheet.

When you’d use this

Use it at month end, quarter end or tax time, or whenever your accountant needs to look something up without asking you.

How to invite your accountant

1. Go to Settings → Invite Teammates.
2. Find the Invite your accountant card.
3. Enter your accountant’s email and click Invite accountant.

It’s free on every plan and doesn’t use a seat. Your accountant can read invoices, estimates, payments, expenses, clients, reports and time, and download exports. They can’t edit or send anything, impersonate clients, or see Stripe payouts, plan billing, team management, imports or workspace settings. Owners and admins can remove an accountant at any time.

How to export a period

1. Go to Dashboard → Accountant Export.
2. Pick a period: Last month, This quarter, Last quarter, This year, Last year, or set From and To dates.
3. Choose a format: Everything, QuickBooks Online, Xero or Generic CSV.
4. Click Download ZIP.

Invoices are included by the date they were sent; payments and expenses by the date recorded. The QuickBooks Online files cover invoices with lines, bills and a bank file of payments. Xero gets sales invoices, bills and a bank statement. Generic CSV includes invoices, lines, payments, expenses, customers and credit notes.

Line totals reconcile to each invoice’s grand total, including tax, discounts, late fees and card fees. QuickBooks Online doesn’t accept negative lines, so discounts are spread across lines in that format. Deleted and denied invoices and never-sent drafts are left out.

FAQ

Does this sync live with QuickBooks or Xero?

No. It’s a CSV export you import, not a live sync.

Who can download exports?

Owners, admins and accountants. Regular members can’t.

How should these be categorised for tax?

That’s a question for your accountant. The export gives them clean data to work from.
