The command palette

The command palette is the fastest way to move around Fee-Lion. Press Ctrl/Cmd+K from anywhere and you can navigate, create, and act without hunting through menus. If you prefer your keyboard, this is your home base.

When you’d use this

Reach for the palette whenever you know what you want but not where it lives. New users use it to skip the learning curve: type “invoice” and the right screen appears, no menu tour required. Power users use it to never leave the keyboard during a billing session: mark three invoices paid, open a client, start a timer, all without touching the mouse. It is also the quickest route when you are on a laptop trackpad or a tablet, where precise clicking is slow.

Open it anywhere

  1. Press Ctrl+K (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+K (Mac) from any screen.
  2. Start typing what you want — a list to open, a thing to create, or an action to run.

What you can do

  • Jump to any list — clients, estimates, invoices, projects, expenses, reports.
  • Create things — start a new invoice, estimate, client, or project.
  • Run actions directly — type a command like pay INV-1024 to mark that invoice paid.

Keyboard-first flow

Because the palette covers navigation, creation, and actions in one place, you can keep your hands on the keyboard through most of your day. Open it, type, hit enter, repeat.

Tip: When you don’t remember where a feature lives, open the palette and type the noun — it’s often faster than clicking through the menus.

FAQ

Does the palette search my data or just the menus?

Both. It matches lists and actions by name, and it understands references like an invoice number, so pay INV-1024 acts on that exact invoice rather than opening a list for you to find it.

Can I use it on a phone?

Yes, but without a hardware keyboard the shortcut does not apply. Open it from the search icon in the header instead; the typing and results work the same way.

Is there a list of every command?

Open the palette and type nothing. It shows the most common jumps and actions, and typing a single letter narrows the list, so browsing is faster than reading a reference.
