When Will the Money Hit My Bank? Stripe Payouts Explained

Getting Paid Payouts Stripe

The Fee-Lion payments view showing a paid invoice with its card payment recorded and settling into the connected Stripe account.

Your client just hit Pay and the invoice flipped to paid. So where’s the money? Here’s the good news: in Fee-Lion, card payments land in your own Stripe account, and from there Stripe pays out to your bank on a predictable schedule. Once you know the rhythm, you’ll always know exactly when to expect cash.

How the money actually flows

Fee-Lion uses Stripe Connect, which is a fancy way of saying the money never sits with us. When a client pays a card invoice, here’s the path it takes:

  • The client enters their card in the secure portal and pays the full invoice (or a deposit / partial amount).
  • Stripe charges the card and drops the funds into your connected Stripe balance, minus Stripe’s processing fee and our small platform fee.
  • Stripe then pays out that balance to the bank account you linked when you connected Stripe.

So there are really two moments: the charge (instant, when the client pays) and the payout (a day or several later, when Stripe transfers your balance to your bank). The invoice shows as paid the moment the charge clears — the bank deposit is the second beat.

When payouts actually arrive

Payout timing is set by Stripe, not Fee-Lion. A few things shape it:

  • Your first payout usually takes a bit longer — often around 7 days after your first successful charge — while Stripe verifies your account.
  • After that, most accounts settle into a rolling schedule: funds become available a couple of business days after the charge, then pay out automatically.
  • Weekends and bank holidays don’t process payouts, so a Friday-night payment may not deposit until midweek.

Tip: To see your exact payout schedule and the precise “arriving on” dates for each deposit, open your Stripe Dashboard (the account you linked in Fee-Lion). Fee-Lion shows you when an invoice was paid; Stripe shows you when the cash hits the bank. Bookmark both.

Want to check a specific invoice?

  1. Open Invoices in the left sidebar and click the invoice in question.
  2. Confirm the status reads Paid — that means the charge cleared into your Stripe balance.
  3. Jump to your Stripe Dashboard’s Payouts view to see which deposit that charge is bundled into and its arrival date.

Fees, deposits, and recurring payments

A couple of things worth knowing so the deposit amount never surprises you:

  • Fees come off the top. The amount that reaches your bank is the invoice total minus Stripe’s processing fee and our platform fee — so a $1,000 invoice deposits slightly less than $1,000.
  • Deposits and partial payments each trigger their own charge and flow through the same payout pipeline. Collect a 50% deposit up front and that money starts its journey immediately, well before the final balance.
  • Recurring invoices and auto-pay work identically — each cycle creates a charge that settles into your balance and pays out on your normal schedule, no manual step required.

Offline payments (cash, check, bank transfer) are different: you record those yourself, so there’s no Stripe payout — the money reaches you however you arranged it.
